Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to join a growing team. This role will support the development, implementation, and management of product stewarship and chemical compliance programs across the Maravai Lifesciences organization. The EHS Specialist works cross-functionally with legal, compliance, supply chain, and other parts of the organization. Candidate has expertise in regulations such as: Global Hazard Communication, TSCA, Dangerous Goods, Global Chemical Inventory, CA Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Right-To-Know, Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 28/2012).
Responsibilities:
- Management of Maravai's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring program, to generate compliant Safety Data Sheet according to global regulations and classification rules/standards for all company businesses
- Support Hazard Communication labeling efforts for all company businesses
- Responsible for customer support function to address product compliance, chemical safety, and regulatory questions from both internal and external customers
- Assist in the development and support of Maravai's product compliance programs, such as, but not limited to: Hazard Communication, Right-To-Know, Dangerous Goods, REACH, TSCA and CA Prop 65, etc.
- Help to establish and mature software systems required to meet compliance requirements
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives related to regulatory interpretation/impact analysis
- Collaborate with, product managers, product developers, engineers, supply chain and R&D regarding new product introduction as it pertains to compliance requirements
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to gather, input and manage compliance data
- Assist in the coordination of onsite physical chemical inventory efforts across Maravai businesses
- Provide key guidance to ensure global movement of product is not compromised, while protecting proprietary information
- Assist in the development of compliance plans to address identified gaps and ensure required obligations are met
- Support development and management of Chemical Review/Approval processes
- Classification support and point of contact for questions concerning transport of hazardous chemicals
- Performs other functions and duties as required
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or environmental science field, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in safety management, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or public health required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in interpreting, applying requirements, tracking, and managing chemical regulations required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in EH&S with Life Science and laboratory focus required
- Experience working with business stakeholders, consultants, and 3rd party vendors required
- Experience with Chemical Management Systems / Chemical Inventory Process required
- Experience with Hazard Communication Standards (US GHS, WHMIS 2015, EU CLP & REACH, AP GHS, etc.) preferred
- Experience with authoring Safety Data Sheets and GHS labeling requirements preferred
- Strong knowledge of Global regulations (e.g., EU REACH, KR REACH, CA Prop 65, TSCA, Global Chemical Inventory, FIFRA/BPR) preferred
