General Summary:Provides safe, effective and efficient preventive and corrective maintenance to all Family Dollar Transportation equipment. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Performs all necessary repairs to all systems, sub-systems and components of company commercial trailers. Mounts and dismounts tires. Brands and places tires in inventory. Performs periodic FHWA inspections, inbound equipment inspections and PM follow up work. Assists in maintaining an accurate parts inventory system. Assists in performing other maintenance-related activities, as needed. Follows set safety procedures and guidelines. Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment.Follows all Company policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned. Position Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 1 year experience in heavy-duty commercial trailer maintenance. Ideally, candidate will possess some formal equipment maintenance training from a Technical School . Must have a roll around type tool chest and all hand tools to perform assigned mechanic’s work. Basic computer is preferred.
Physical Requirements : Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. These tasks require the ability to frequently lift and move up to 60 pounds. The Team Member should have adequate fitness level to meet the demands of frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing, occasional sitting, stooping and kneeling with or without reasonable accommodation. Team Member will be required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per Transportation requirements.
Certifications: Must possess a valid driver’s license. If the candidate already possesses a valid CDL and would wish to maintain it, the company will fund the needed yearly DOT physicals until the candidate no longer wishes to maintain his/her CDL in good standing. Team Member will complete an annual violation and review record and provide authorization for an annual MVR. Current Brake Certification and proper certification to perform FHWA inspections is preferred.
Working Conditions: Team Member will work in a non-climate controlled atmosphere, in which outside weather conditions greatly affect the building’s temperature although fans and heaters are used. Team Member may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts or equipment, fumes and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA.
Availability: Team Member will perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays if needed.
