Summary

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments.

Hours: 2nd Shift Alternating Schedule; 3:00pm – 1:00am; additional hours may be required due to business demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Perform preventable maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Possesses mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Ability to repair equipment breakdowns in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Possess basic fabrication skills.
  • Be self-motivated and work well unsupervised

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a number on the Evaluation scale between 150 and 169. The Evaluation scale is based on attendance, performance and other various qualities.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual who has knowledge of PLC technology and Industrial Electronics is preferred. Must learn the in-house CMMS software system.

  • Must be able to operate motor vehicles, including a forklift. Must have strong mechanical and/or electrical skills. Must have knowledge of and the ability to operate hand and power tools. Must read, write, understand and speak English.
  • Work cooperatively with maintenance and production personnel. Occasionally work within tight time constraints. Must pass a job-related assessment with a score of 70% or better. Must possess a stable work history with good references.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers; including turning handles, valves, and using assorted hand tools; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; climb stairs or balance on a ladder and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or bend. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include good vision, corrected to 20/30 or better.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and slippery and/or uneven surfaces. The job entails normal inside and outside temperatures and occasional exposure to tight and confined work areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
