What you will do as a Quality Assurance Tech:

Perform all necessary quality assurance analysis and tests assigned by Quality Assurance Manager in a safe, effective manner, while ensuring quality and food safety standards are being met.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay – Starting out at $21.80 an hour.
  • Shift Premium- $1.00 shift premium is added for 2nd and 3rd shift hours.

  • Schedule- 2nd shift (2:00 pm-10:30pm) Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to work some Saturdays.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for reporting any food safety or quality issues to supervisor as well as the following specific duties involving food safety and quality.
  • Perform chemical, physical and sensory tests on all raw and finished products using approved methods to generate accurate data.
  • Testing to include but not limited to the following: weight checks, moisture analyzing, documenting COAs, retain samples, customer cuttings, defect analysis, counts, and stencil evaluation including: label, date code, product code, description, & UPC code.
  • Record all information in an orderly fashion and report all deviations from standard to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Follow Quality Assurance procedures as described by Quality Assurance Manager.

Carry out any corrections prescribed by Quality Assurance Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Accepts & is able to handle unanticipated work and problems
  • Sound algebra
  • Possess basic food processing knowledge, including familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Be accurate, precise and attentive to detail
  • Good communication (verbally and written), problem solving and organizational skills
  • Computer data entry skills
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Physical Activity/Working Conditions: (May apply to all positions within the plant)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend, and use hands and fingers. This position requires the employee to be able to read, write, and communicate orally in English.

Minimum Physical Requirements

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Will walk/stand for the duration of an 8-12hour shift and be able to use both hands, twist, bend, stoop, reach and maneuver in tight or cramped areas.
  • Will climb stairs, ladders, equipment scaffolding, tanks and heights to 50 feet.
  • Will push/pull/lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Will use one or both hands to hold, grip, and use tools required for duties, including but not limited to a utility knife.
  • Will hear and talk on an ongoing basis in an atmosphere of moderate and loud noise.
  • Will work in and around cold water or hot water up to 185° F.
  • Will work in cold, warm, hot, humid and/or wet conditions.

Working Environment

Factory setting requiring the use of PPE.

Will work with hazardous chemicals and will be trained on safe handling practices.

In the event of an absence, this operator position will be covered from the pool of trained back up operators or by QA Manager.
