Responsibilities

Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating

Help clients take prescribed medication and assist clients with ambulation

Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Offer activities that are essential for daily living by assisting patients with their meals, including serving and other tasks, if necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. All Jewish Home facility policies and procedures as they pertain to specific duties.

2. The process of aging as it related to health care.

3. Resident's rights and dignity regulations.

4. Resident safety, standard precautions, basic principles of infection control, fire and emergency drills.

5. Catheter care, post mortem care, range of motion, vital signs (temperate, pulse, respiration and blood pressures), obtain urine and stool specimens.

6. Intake and output, preventive skin care.

7. Care of resident personal laundry and belongings which include, hearing aids, dentures, wheelchairs, geri loungers, walkers, adaptive equipment, prosthesis, splints.

8. Correct and safe technique in the use of equipment such as beds, weight scales, Hoyer lifts, bed checks, century tubs, shower chairs, shower stretchers, safety devices, air mattresses, intercom call bell system, wheelchairs, and restraints.

9. Maintains clean equipment, service, utility rooms, kitchen and resident rooms and common areas.

10. Documents and record entries o: intake and output, personal care record flow record, weight records, skin alert sheets, meal consumption records.

11. Resident rounds at the beginning/end of shift.

12. Reports to Team Leader/Charge Nurse any change of deviation in resident status. Will identify resident in crisis and take immediate, appropriate actions. Gives thorough end of shift report to Team Leader/Charge Nurse.

13. Knowledgeable about information on CNA assignment sheet, master assignment sheet and resident interdisciplinary care plan.

14. The quality assurance process, may participate in audits.

15. The organization of care for a group of residents under the direction of Team Leader/Charge Nurse.

16. Effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving skills.

17. Provide for the physical, emotion, and spiritual comfort and environmental safety of the residents.

18. May serve on Jewish Home committees, i.e. safety, material management, etc.

19. Will be able to perform Heimlich procedure.

20. Maintains in-service requirements for certification purposes:

1. One (1) hour in-service a month

2. Twelve (12) hours of in-servicing annually.

21. May be required to perform related tasks required for smooth functioning of the department.

22. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
