Contract
Under the supervision of the Director Human Resources, the Senior Workplace Investigator completes timely, thorough, fair and impartial investigations of concerns involving potential violations of City policy, applicable collective bargaining agreements,
Position Description
· Investigates allegations of -
-City of Boston policy violations (including bias-based conduct, sexual misconduct, workplace violence, and other unprofessional conduct),
-Non-compliance with collective bargaining agreements, or violations of other workplace standards by interviewing the subject(s), reporter(s), and any witnesses;
-Reviewing relevant documents or other evidence; conducting background factual and/or legal research as necessary;
-Preparing reports that present findings of fact, credibility determinations, analysis of issues and evidence, and recommendations for corrective action and training;
-Conducting briefings with relevant leadership; and issuing and documenting determinations and final investigative reports.
· Performs difficult and complex factual, policy, and legal analyses and research.
· Works closely with the Training and Development team, developing educational programs to proactively address workplace issues and increase compliance with City of Boston policies.
· Develops trust, rapport, and strong working relationships with the Offices of Human Resources and Labor Relations, and leads in other City departments.
· Promotes and encourages a positive environment while working respectfully and effectively within and for highly diverse workers at all levels of the organization.
· Prepares and maintains a weekly summary report of the status of all investigations.
· Supports the Office of Human Resources in writing reports as needed.

Required
· Ability to effectively communicate and make recommendations regarding any systemic issues identified.
· Ability to exercise objectivity, confidentiality, and discretion with highly sensitive information.
· Effective communicator orally and in wiring
· Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
· Three plus (5+) years of progressively responsible experience conducting impartial fact-finding investigations in the employment context, establishing
· A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is preferred

· A high degree of empathy balanced against an ability to provide direct feedback and confront witnesses with difficult information.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees from a wide variety of backgrounds and identities, discerning systemic issues that surface during investigation.

Pay: $34.50 per hour
