Job description

Manages various accounting functions including financial statement preparation, ledger maintenance, budgets, as well as associated analysis and reporting. Evaluates and makes improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with accounting standards and applicable laws and regulations. This position will analyze various areas of the business to support continuous improvement in financial results.
Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify, reconcile, and solve accounting/finance related issues as well as improve processes and financial results
  • Form and maintain internal and external relationships with, but not limited to the following departments/business partners: Category Management, Distribution Center, Human Resources, Purchasing, Sales, Information Technology, Bank and Accounting Firm
  • Manage the general accounting and payroll staff including oversight of their work, performance reviews, and progress towards individual goals
  • Work with the accounting team to prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule
  • Reconcile and/or review balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Research and resolve management questions/requests
  • Lead the year end annual audit
  • Participate in completing the annual budget process
  • Responsible for compliance reporting (i.e. annual reports, census reports, etc)
  • Perform special analyses and ad-hoc projects as needed
  • *Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, including 4 years in a supervisory role
  • 2 years of public accounting experience preferred but not required
  • *Qualifications:
  • Highly motivated to meet personal, team, and corporate goals
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent service for both internal and external customers
  • Lead cross functional teams through projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer and Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong communications, interpersonal, and networking skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills

Physical requirements:

  • Physical ability to safely perform job functions with or without aid of mechanical equipment
  • Ability to exert up to 10-15 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to pick up and move objects
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to typing, filing and perform other administrative job functions (type, email, etc.)
