Your Role:
As the Accounting Manager, you will provide leadership to the Accounting staff and oversee financial reporting for the agency. Our Finance Department advocates continuing education and development through tuition programs, paid external training, and interdepartmental cross-training. In working with our small and collaborative team, you will gain invaluable experience in various accounting functions. We offer opportunities to support the agency’s mission through paid and volunteer engagement in fundraisers/special events. This role is a hybrid-work model and accommodates a flex schedule.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of the financial statements for submission to administration, Board of Directors, and required governmental agencies to meet established deadlines and quality, including maintaining monthly journal entry files and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee the management of the Agency cash accounts making sure all necessary transfers are made to ensure enough coverage for payroll and A/P requirements.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Prepare monthly financial statement variance analysis and explanations. Follow up on significant variances with agency staff.
  • Responsible for reviewing all the month-end financial reports to ensure every report reconciles to each other.
  • Supervise the monthly allocation process and the preparation and distribution of all the month-end financial reports.
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations, research variances, and prepare related journal entries. Provide recommendations for process improvements, as needed.
  • Prepare and provide required documentation for the various financial audits done annually in a timely manner.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. CPA preferred.
  • Proficient in AICPA accounting standards.
  • Five years’ experience with accounting functions and operations.
  • Two years supervisory experience.
  • Employee is required to possess the skill and ability to utilize all applicable technology and computer programs related to his/her position.
  • Employee is required to remain compliant with all state/federal, position, agency, accreditation, and funding source training/licensing requirements including but not limited to CPR/First Aid post hire.
