As the Accounting Research Specialist you will research and prepare documentation for the NJ sales tax audit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review accounts payable invoices for sales tax applied and match with existing fixed assets.- Validate tax remitted was compliant with NJ sales tax requirements.
- Assist in the wire transfer function to the extent that this individual can independently manage the function on a daily basis.
- Manage the fixed assets system to include the addition and deletion of assets and the monthly reconciliation.
- Reconcile prepaid expenses. 4. Notify departments and reconcile non-posts from the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly financial reports. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Assist with other accounting functions as needed.
- General knowledge in basic accounting, computer, etc.
- HS Diploma. Two years of college, plus
- 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
- Intermediate Microsoft office skills
- Basic: 10-Key, Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Presentation/PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Critical thinking skills
- Must be bondable
