Role Description:
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- Assemble, review and verify invoices and check requests
- Set up invoices for payment
- Prepare and cut checks
- Process freight invoices and match them to purchase orders
- Work with schedules for beverage tax analysis for tax payment to State of Connecticut
- Invoice suppliers for bill back invoices
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues with suppliers, etc.
- Correspond with vendors and suppliers and respond to inquiries
- Maintain vendor files
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions
- Assist with month end closing
- Provide supporting documents for audits
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational information
Requirements:
- No degree is required, but must have 1-3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Proficient in data entry
- Must have intermediate Excel skills, Outlook, etc.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers for data entry and occasionally bend and stoop to reach file cabinets, boxes, etc.
