POSITION TITLE: Activities Aide

DEPARTMENT: Care Center

REPORTS TO: Activities Director, Care Center


The Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers in the state of Colorado to disclose the following information. Hourly (salary) minimum $12.69, hourly (salary) maximum $14.81. The base hourly (salary) range above represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual hourly (salary) rates may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to: experience, education, and training.

Pay is just one component to prospective employees’ compensation package. Compensation also includes a 10% PRN differential and may include shift differentials. In addition, Grand River Hospital District offers benefits including employee assistant programs and paid sick time.


JOB PURPOSE: To improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.


BASIC FUNCTION: Works with Activities Director, other Activity Department members, and Volunteers to provide a stimulating, enriching environment by providing a variety of social, educational and recreational activities to meet the individual needs of the Care Center residents.

The Activities Aide assists with the planning and implementation of activities for residents. Assists in developing programs to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation and fulfillment; and improve daily living skills. Develops and conducts a variety of programs and activities for all levels of patient ability. This includes arts and crafts, reading groups, games, gardening, exercise programs, social programs, etc.

Develops and maintains a good rapport with department members, other staff and volunteers involved with the care plan to cultivate a team effort in resident care. Interacts with residents, family members, staff, etc. under all conditions. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required to perform the job successfully. Performs a variety of tasks other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certified Nursing Assistant license is preferred. Must have BLS Certification within three months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.

Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a Long Term Care setting preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid Driver’s License and clean DMV record preferred. If driving is required for the position a valid driver’s license and clean DMV record is required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Activities Aide should be energetic and personable, with the ability to motivate others to participate in activities. The Activities Aide should also be sensitive and responsive to the needs of each individual resident. Must be constantly alert for resident safety. Must be proficient within six (6) months of hire in ECI, Kronos, and American Health Tech.

Must be able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds and be able to push/pull 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to daily exposure and risk of blood borne pathogens, bacteria, toxic substances, body fluids, communicable diseases, equipment noise and occasionally the combative patient. Other conditions may exist which are common to a Long Term Care environment and a clinical health care setting.
