We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to be based out of our New York, NY or St. Louis, MO office to help support US Insurance. The primary responsibility of this position will be pricing and profitability monitoring of the various Healthcare segments with ample opportunity to get involved in a broad array of projects and to contribute more broadly to Sompo International’s wider needs.
Main areas of Responsibility:
- Develop & maintain a suite of performance monitoring reports that provide management insight into the health of the Healthcare portfolios.
- Provide pricing support on individual large accounts using a variety of methodologies
- Build models using both internal and external data to develop even greater insight into our business.
- Review, monitor, and enhance the pricing / underwriting tools used to provide up to date, precise and consistent indications.
- Construct & maintain the data pipelines and data tables that provide us with an analytics edge.
- Build and maintain dashboards of key actuarial metrics (rate change, business mix, loss trends, etc.) and fulfil ad-hoc reporting requests.
- Stay abreast of emerging technology and trends to continually improve existing process and capabilities.
- Support corporate level actuarial projects, including providing input to capital modeling, ceded re, and risk management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Progress towards ACAS with a minimum 3 exams passed
- 1-3 years of experience in an actuarial role with knowledge of basic actuarial concepts
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Willing to challenge the status quo by identifying and remediating deficiencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of conventional actuarial techniques and standards of practice
- Self-motivated with flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities
- Proficient in Excel and one or more programming languages (Python, R, SQL, DAX preferred)
- Strong preference towards someone who is a quick-learner, resourceful, open minded to new ideas, and adaptive to change
- Prior experience with Healthcare Professional Liability preferred but not required
Salary Range: $85,000– $135,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience
