Overview
Master of Engineering Management Readers participate in a team effort to evaluate and select students for the Master of Engineering Management, and Online Master's degree programs. The Reader reports to the Executive Director, Master of Engineering Management.
This is a seasonal position working an abbreviated schedule from January through May. The reader will average 10 hours per work week, and during peak application submission time, readers may work up to 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible and most work is completed offsite. The Reader may also interview candidates across programs or assist with additional projects from the admissions office, as the need arises. The Admissions Reader is a member of the admissions committee and is required to sign a confidentiality agreement in accordance with Duke University Policy. At the discretion and invitation of the Dean, a contract Admissions Reader may be invited to renew the contract for the next admission cycle.
Responsibilities include:
- Reading and evaluating qualifications of prospective students utilizing established standards and guidelines.
- Submitting evaluations for review by the Admissions Committee.
- Attending regular Admissions Committee meetings and training.
- Participating and giving feedback on Admissions Committee decisions.
- Interviewing candidates for the MBA programs and one year specialty masters' programs as needed.
- Help with admitted student outreach, such as welcome calls.
- Perform other duties related to the admissions process as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience
OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Prior admissions or industry experience preferred.
- Outstanding time management, analytic, and interpersonal skills. .
- Comfort with working online and with software programs
