Community Education Specialist at Drink Local. Drink Tap.

This position is for a year of service, starting in August 2022 and ending July 31th 2023. If you are looking to make a substantial difference in the community you've found your people!

AmeriCorps service is a rewarding opportunity for a gap year, recent college graduates, and current college students. Veterans, older adults, and others seeking to make a difference in their community, or a change in career, are also encouraged to apply. You will gain hands on experience working with students, families, and older adults in Cleveland, Ohio as we foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and civic engagement.

Positions Available:

AmeriCorps members at Drink Local. Drink Tap. focus on educational outreach to children in the Cleveland Metropolitan School district. Th Wavemaker Program for schools is used to provide this vital education. In addition to education about the issue and importance of water equity, it includes ways that any child can take action and make a difference. As part of a team that approaches water as a human right, you'll help engage the community in creative ways that have a real impact. This includes events, private documentary screenings, documentary development, and a traveling gallery show you will not only learn a lot, you'll have a great time doing it.

Drink Local. Drink Tap. provides comprehensive training so if you are passionate but not an expert don't let that stop you. The global water crisis isn't going to go away on it's own. This is an opportunity to have a last impact on the vital mission of clean, safe water for all and less environmental pollution.

In addition to education, Drink Local. Drink Tap. also works hands on in rural Uganda to create and monitor sustainable water, hygiene and sanitation system.

Benefits

Living Allowance: Half time (20 hours per week) are available.

Compensation is in the form of a living allowance of $8,736 (paid twice a month).

Education Award: Segal Education Award equivalent to the maximum amount of the Pell Grant upon the successful completion of service hours: $3,247.50 for part-time members. The education award may be used towards educational expenses and/or current/past/future student expenses. A number of colleges match or exceed the educational award for current students.

Requirements

· Minimum of 18 years of age

· High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred

· Must be a US Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident

· Must undergo and pass a criminal history background check

· Passion and perseverance for service

Pay: $759.65 per month
