Want to see change and growth in the community? This is where change happens!

This position is for a year of service, starting August 15th, 2022 and ending July 31th 2023. If you are looking to make a substantial difference in the community we'd love to have you on the team! This is a rewarding opportunity for a gap year, recent college graduates, and current college students. Veterans, older adults, and others seeking to make a difference in their community, or a change in career, are also encouraged to apply. You will gain hands on experience working with students, families, and older adults in Cleveland, Ohio as we foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and civic engagement.

Positions Available:

Help build the next generation of leaders by serving K-12 Cleveland Metropolitan School District students during the school day, in afterschool and summer programs at Minds Matter Cleveland.

For low-income students in Cleveland, hard-working plus high-achieving doesn't always equal opportunity.
Minds Matter is changing that. We help hard-working students get to and through the best college for them, reaching their true potential and becoming tomorrow's leaders.

All Of Our Students Have Been Accepted Into A Four-Year College

We know it's access, not ability, that limits college opportunities for low-income students. Minds Matter equips high school students with the tools to gain acceptance to and graduate from their best-fit, four-year university by providing critical resources including:

  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring
  • ACT test preparation
  • Summer academic programs
  • Scholarship application assistance — to ensure both college access and success.

Our Students

  • 63% are admitted to Barron’s Most, Highly, or Very Competitive schools.
  • Have a minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Through participation in our program, students see a 45 percentile point average increase in ACT score.
  • Are sophomores, juniors, and seniors from over 15 high schools in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, and inner-ring suburbs.

Anthony | Minds Matter Cleveland 2016 | Wesleyan University 2020

"Minds Matter has had a tremendous impact on me. Without the support, financially and academically, I wouldn't have been able to have the experiences I had, such as my summer programs in Washington and visiting China for the second time. Additionally, the invaluable mentorship has molded me into a better leader, a life-long learner, and a productive citizen. Without Minds Matter, I wouldn't be the person I am today.”

Ben | Minds Matter Cleveland 2018 | Vassar College 2022

"Without the ACT prep and support provided by Minds Matter, there's no way I could have gotten a score of 31 on the ACT. Minds Matter has also really helped me come out of my shell. After three years in the program I've learned how to confidently interact with just about anyone."

Renee | Minds Matter Cleveland 2016 | Miami University 2020

"Minds Matter has impacted me by helping to expand my idea of what I am capable of including providing me with a great support network to help better myself academically, personally, and many other things. Minds Matter has also allowed me the chance to have many different experiences that I wouldn’t have otherwise."
