The Applications Engineering team for DNG in Houston, TX, is responsible for supporting the sales of gas compression equipment for various markets. Customers are typically end users that purchase gas compression projects. The equipment we package for this market is primarily reciprocating and oil-flooded screw compressors driven by either gas engines or electric motors.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing conceptual and front-end engineering as required, estimating, proposal development, and technical support for gas compression projects within the USA & support of the Rest of World Operations.
  • Evaluate the design and performance of the proposed equipment; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet Customer’s specifications and timetable.
  • Develop run files or performance files depending on the compressor manufacturer.
  • Review scope of supply definition and project specifications, develop equipment selection and sizing, and prepare cost estimates and technical/commercial proposals.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and company standards applicable to the equipment being offered.
  • Interface with all operational departments within the company.
  • Maintain customer relationships; participate in client clarification meetings as required.
  • Participate in product development / packaging improvements to provide more cost-effective products and benefits to our customers.
  • Position may require some domestic overnight travel on occasion.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years related experience preferred.
  • Computer proficiency is required. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • SAP, CRM, Ariel7 experience is a bonus.
  • Able to prioritize the work in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines, follow up on commitments, adapt to quick changes, and action wherever appropriate.
  • Able to solve problems and communicate persuasively. Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Working Conditions

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
