The applications engineer is responsible for providing conceptual engineering, cost estimating and proposal preparation for gas processing equipment. Equipment includes modular equipment for dew point plants, mechanical refrigeration units, fractionation trains, cryogenic plants, amine systems, TEG dehydrations, molecular sieve, and other systems found in the mid-stream market.

This position is for an individual with 5 or more years in the industry capable of developing simulations in HYSYS and/or ProMax. A chemical engineering degree is preferred, but industry experience is just as valuable.

The Gas Processing Department consists of highly skilled, motivated engineers. Considered a core to the success of the company. Gas Processing Applications attracts the best and brightest engineers in the industry and offers exposure to the latest technology in the oil, gas, and petrochemical markets.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the design and performance of Gas Processing modules such as dew point plants, mechanical refrigeration units, fractionation trains, cryogenic plants, amine systems, and dehydration systems based on customer requirements and specifications; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet customers based in the North American market project demands and timetable.
  • Review and determine appropriate scope definition and Gas Processing equipment specifications, model gas processing systems in process simulators, develop Gas Processing equipment sizing, gather sub-vendor quotations, prepare cost estimates and technical and commercial proposals.
  • Development of proposal Process Flow Diagrams and/or Piping and Instrument Diagrams for Gas Processing systems such as dew point plants, mechanical refrigeration units, fractionation trains, cryogenic plants, amine systems, and dehydration systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the gas processing systems in the domestic United States market.
  • Interface with internal customers such as domestic United States based account managers, Gas Processing Project Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure North American customer and project requirements are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Actively engage in client relationships; participate in project clarification meetings, kick-off meetings, and sales calls as required for clients buying equipment for installation in North America.
  • Quality: Ensure alignment of Enerflex, customer and vendor quality control and quality assurance in bids based on North American design codes.
  • Duties must be performed consistently with the company mission and values and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Abide by and promote Enerflex’s HSE policy.

Job Specifications

  • Engineering or Engineering Technology degree and or an equivalent background. Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimate gas processing equipment.
  • Capable of developing simulations in HYSYS or ProMax.
  • Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions of sale.
  • Solid IT skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Advanced knowledge of product mechanical design, thermodynamics, chemical processing, and instrumentation & controls.
  • Time management skills including multi-tasking competing priorities as needed.
  • Ability to generate alternative solutions.
  • Being customer-centered and able to maintain satisfied customer and vendor relationships.
  • Track record of successfully resolving technical problems with a desire and ability to continue learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented, capable of learning, managing time, priorities, and operating well under pressure with little supervision.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
  • Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
  • May be exposed to confidential information.
  • Frequently required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
