Short Description of your organization and mission:

NorthBridge College Success Program is Maricopa County’s only postsecondary success program for students with learning disabilities. NorthBridge fills a unique gap in the postsecondary pipeline, with the mission to provide support, resources, and guidance to students with learning disabilities as they transition to, persist, and succeed in higher educational and vocational opportunities.

Position Title: College is Possible Transition Coach

Position Type (slot):

• Half-Time Member, 900 total hours, 18-20 hours/week for 50 weeks.

• Minimum-Time Member, 300 total hours, 8-10 hours/week for 30 weeks.

Reports To: Program Director

Location: 7000 N. 16th St. Suite 120 Phoenix, AZ 85020

Primary Function/Purpose: Conduct one-on-one academic tutoring and executive functioning skill coaching with NB students. Help Program Director and Executive Director with NorthBridge social media accounts and Program Outcomes data. Create workshop presentations and resource documents on various college and career transition topics.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct one-on-one academic tutoring and executive functioning skill coaching with NB students.

• Help prospective and current college students with college planning information, tools, and referrals.

• Prepare and facilitate SAT/ACT/GED test-prep workshops.

• Create and schedule social media posts for NorthBridge Linked-In, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.

• Create informational resource documents for Northbridge students/families.

• Create workshop presentations on various college and career transition topics.

• Help Program Director with planning student social events.

Qualifications:

Required:  

• Associate degree of 3 years of college experience

• Good verbal communication and experience delivering presentations

Preferred:  

• Bachelor's Degree

• Experience working with teenagers and college students in an educational setting

• Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities

Training/Development Opportunities:

Relevant field experience, including interacting with young adults with learning differences, conflict resolution, 1:1 peer mentoring. Marketing and/or social media experience. Additional training on a weekly basis and have networking opportunities with staff and Board members. Upon completion of the AmeriCorps assignment the member may have the opportunity to be a certified ITTPC tutor which is recognized by all College Reading and Learning Association.

Work Environment:

• Candidates need to have a high level of personal integrity.

• Autonomous work environment, as many of the tasks can be completed remotely, except for in-person student sessions (see below).

• Reliabletransportationisnecessaryforthein-personsessionswithstudentsatthelocaluniversitiesand community college libraries in Maricopa County.

• Candidates will be asked to secure an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (NorthBridge will pay for it).
