The Nashville Area Manager reports to the Terminals Southern District Manager. This position has responsibility for the oversight of day-to-day operations for the terminals within the Nashville Area. The position may sit in Nashville, TN or Mt. Airy, LA
The Area Manager develops and recommends plans and programs that assure compliance with all health, environmental, safety and security objectives, terminal efficiencies, and operations, including the development and implementation of methods for their administration. Regular travel over a multi-state area is required to develop Terminal Managers and other operating personnel, optimize operations, manage asset disposition and to evaluate new business opportunities. Travel time required for this position is approximately 25-35%.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Champion continuous improvement and HES&S initiatives within Terminals.
  • Collaborate with the Terminals Leadership Team, other Area Managers, and Human Resources in the recruiting, hiring, training and development, performance management, and succession planning of terminal personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Terminals Leadership Team and the other Area Managers to develop tactical goals based on the Terminals Strategic Plan.
  • Review, approve, and monitor the terminal expense budgets. Assure that terminal personnel understand their P&L statement and are working to optimize their financial performance.
  • Interact with stakeholders in other components (Refining, Clean Products, Global Feedstocks, Business Development, etc.) of MPC and MPLX to assure optimization and cost efficiency of our terminal logistics.
  • Regular travel throughout the assigned Area is required to, assure proper asset management, optimize operations, and to drive accountability around adherence to established operational and HES&S policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for assuring emergency preparedness at his/her terminals and is trained to lead a response as Tier II Incident Commander.
  • Identify and sponsor construction projects and monitor to ensure their completion as scheduled; interface with the District Engineer and project leaders in L3S to represent terminal interests and ensure adherence to project scope.
  • Coordinate available engineering, mechanical and administrative expertise and resources to oversee the Area’s maintenance program to ensure assets are maintained at an acceptable standard and cost-effective level.
  • Set expectations around ownership and Operational Discipline.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental, Safety, or related fields preferred.
  • 10 years related experience with some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office preferred.
