Job Summary: The Assembly Supervisor plans, directs, and coordinates programs and engineering activities within the initiator assembly department. Individual is responsible for safe and effective manufacturing operations within the department and will continuously strive to improve process efficiency and assembly capacity.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
1. Responsible for the safe manufacture of CED’s initiator product line including current production and future new product development.
2. Manages the assemblers/ technicians responsible for manufacturing activities within the assembler areas.
3. Implements process improvements to optimize manufacturing activities.
4. Reviews production schedules and interfaces with the planning department to provide accurate production forecasts.
5. Coordinates engineering / maintenance activities and directs projects throughout the initiator manufacturing areas.
6. Promotes and leads Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
7. Drives continuous improvement of manufacturing methods to meet or exceed customers’ needs.
8. Works with Production and Management staff on programs and procedures.
9. Interface directly with various departments including, but not limited to, quality, planning, engineering, contracts and operations.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Possess a minimum of five years related manufacturing and assembler experience.
- A minimum of 5+ years supervisory/management experience desired
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Engineering preferred.
- Six Sigma Certification a plus.
- Must have ability to lead effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, specifications and quality systems.
- Knowledge of and training in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) desired.
15. Must be eligible to possess explosive by passing drug screen, background check and prove US citizenship under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices.
