SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The assembly supervisor is responsible for the operation of an assigned area in terms of assembly, packing, inspecting, resizing, cost, delivery, technical, safety, and human resources with defined goals. Responsible for day to day management of people within production, to ensure company’s targets and objectives are met to meet customer requirements, ensuring that staff comply with health, safety and standard operating procedures. Strives to continually improve using Lean tools to reduce costs, improve production and quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following:

• Assembly Supervisor liaises and coordinates with support functions to progress issues concerning assembly planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure packing, shipping within all relevant quality specifications.
• Assembly Supervisor ensures that Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are monitored and targets achieved.
• Assembly Supervisor communicates with teams by utilizing visual management, delivering shift briefs with focus on quality, cost and delivery, ad gathering ideas for improvements.
• Assembly Supervisor drives performance of team members giving direction and feedback to aid good performance.
• Assembly Supervisor ensures safe working practices are maintained and “Standard Operations” are adhered to.
• Assembly Supervisor motivates the tam to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
• Assembly Supervisor implements lean manufacturing techniques to exceed Check-Mate’s targets for productivity, efficiency and quality on a continuous basis.
• Assembly Supervisor supports the implementation of engineering changes, production trials, model change and pilot builds.
• Assembly Supervisor manages and controls resources effectively to support customer delivery. requirements and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Assembly Supervisor monitors and maintains employee absences.
• Assembly Supervisor deals with personnel issues on shift and takes appropriate action via corrective actions, performance improvements and/or performance reviews.
• Assembly Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that assemblers, packers and sizers are trained on products and processes.
• Assembly Supervisor conducts incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
• Assembly Supervisor promotes high standards through personal example and rolls out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards of behaviors expected of them.
• Assembly Supervisor monitors team performance by completing annual performance reviews.
• Assembly Supervisor provides product expertise within the team and responds to operator queries.
• Assembly Supervisor works proactively with support function to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities. Provides support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team.
• Assembly Supervisor ensures that all production is entered into the ERP Plex System.

Minimum Requirements:

• A.S. or B.S. Degree in business, management or another related field
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience in people management
• 3-5 years of assembly and production experience
• 1-3 years of experience in continuous process improvement, process management and Lean principles
• 1-3 years of experience in safety, human resource management, production and quality
• Ability to manage complex project assignment priorities
• Experience with ERP Systems a plus
