POSITION TITLE: Assistant Athletic Director for Communications
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
POSITION STATUS: Full-time (12-month)
POSITION REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications will serve as the main point of contact for all sports information needs, as well as coordinating all athletic broadcasts and managing social media for the University of Saint Francis Cougars. Game day management, statistical oversight, manage student video workers and livestreaming of USF Athletic events, manages USF Athletics website and all social media accounts. Serve as direct report to the Athletic Director and be a member of the USF Athletics Executive Team. This position will have supervisory responsibilities over student workers and game day personnel.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Maintains strong relationship with area and regional sports media that will encourage positive coverage of University of Saint Francis athletic teams and student-athletes.
- Serves as main point of contact for all visiting team game day needs (radio, video, etc.)
- Prepares and distributes regular news releases on University of Saint Francis teams and student-athletes.
- Coordinates media coverage of contest including post-game interviews.
- Provides game management for home athletic events and ensures PA announcer, scoreboard operator, statistician and scorebook keeper are scheduled.
- Writes and supervises lay out of media guides and programs.
- Compiles and maintains statistics for all sports.
- Files statistical reports via DakStats with the Crossroads League, Mid-States Football Association and the NAIA.
- Prepares and distributes hometown releases on University of Saint Francis student-athletes.
- Helps to create and implement comprehensive athletic marketing plan including, but not limited to, media relations and student recruitment.
- Oversee the production of livestreaming for USF home athletic contests
- Manage USF Athletics YouTube page
- Oversee student workers to video USF Football practices
- Manage www.saintfranciscougars.comand keep updated throughout the year
- Collect/manage rosters, headshots and biographical information for all media guides/programs
- Manage all Media Luncheons and make sure players and coaches are available for interviews
- Schedule/coordinate high school player signings and video stream events as necessary
Athletic Administration
- Serve as a member of the Athletic Department Executive Team
- In the absences of the Athletic Director, in conjunction with Associate AD/SWA, gives general supervision to the coaching staffs of both the men’s and women’s athletic programs and the Athletic Department’s administrative staff.
- Helps to create a positive work environment for coaches and athletes to be successful.
- Oversees and administers the athletic Hall of Fame and CASPY Awards selections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, sports management or related field required.
Experience
- 1-3 years’ experience in sports information, journalism or video production preferred.
