Position Status: Full-Time, Ten Month Position (August 1-May 31)
Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine

Catawba College (“Catawba”) Athletics seeks candidates to serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position primarily serving the Men’s Basketball Team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive athletic training services to Catawba student-athletes
  • Evaluate and treat student-athlete injuries occurring at practices, games, and other Catawba athletic activities
  • In coordination with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, design and supervise rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
  • Administer athletic training operations as assigned and work with team physicians
  • Attend assigned team(s) practices and games
  • Travel with assigned team(s) travel, which will include some holidays and weekends
  • Work primarily with the Men's Basketball Teams and will assist with secondary sports as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Candidate must be nationally certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC)
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of North Carolina required
  • Candidate must possess strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, and have the ability to work independently with multiple team assignments
  • At least three (3) years of intercollegiate athletic training experience preferred

ABOUT CATAWBA:

Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the valleys of the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution and the first woman graduate completed her studies in 1893. In 1925, Catawba moved and re-opened to its current location in Salisbury, NC, which is about 45 minutes from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte, two hours from the mountains, and four hours from the beaches.

Today, Catawba College has 41 buildings on 276 wooded acres on a residential campus. Catawba is known for its 189 acre on-campus ecological preserve. Ranked as one of the best colleges in the south, Catawba offers 70 academic majors to approximately 1,300 students representing 34 U.S. states and 19 foreign countries. Students are instructed by nearly 90 full-time faculty, more than 83% of whom hold the highest degree in their field.
