Founded in 1903 Catholic Charities remains among the largest and well-respected social service agencies with programs and offices located throughout the greater Boston area. We offer over 70 programs and services to individuals in 23 locations. We are a mission driven social service organization, some services include outpatient counseling, food pantries, childcare, refugee and immigration support, education, residential and recovery support.

We are seeking an Assistant Director to assist the Director of Child Care Services for the child care Program in Malden.

The Assistant Director will be responsible for the administrative functions of the center as assigned, and in compliance with state and local regulations, Catholic Charities policies and procedures, and accepted early childhood practices. In the absence of the Director, the Assistant Director assumes responsibility for the program, and the Director’s scope of authority.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day to day supervision of Lead Teachers and Teachers, or Family Child Care Home Coordinators
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and child assessment
  • Assist the Director with administrative duties, which may include enrollment interviews and parent visits, intake, file and account maintenance, collection and deposit of tuition, ordering of food and supplies, meal and snack planning, staff scheduling and calling substitutes, preparation of bills for payment, and preparation of month-end third party billing
  • Assist the Director in developing and fostering parent participation in the program, which may include a newsletter, parent social events, conferences with teachers, volunteer activities in the classrooms, parent council, and other activities
  • May temporarily serve in a teaching capacity to cover for the absence of a regular teacher, or in family child care may serve as a home coordinator
  • Assist the Director in planning and implementing other projects as requested, e.g. accreditation
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Lead Teacher Qualified
  • BA in early childhood, or related field preferred; minimum AA
  • Director II qualified preferred
  • Three years teaching experience
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word
