Assistant Director Occupational Therapy (Timonium PRP, Part Time)
Job description
This is a licensed professional position offered by Sheppard Pratt requiring specific knowledge of supervising occupational therapy students. The OT Assistant Director is expected through training and experience, to exercise independent judgment with coordination of occupational therapy student education with colleges and universities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to OT Director with regard to the coordination of OT students within specified rehabilitation and recovery programs.
- Provide or coordinate orientation, ongoing mentoring, and coordination/supervision of OT students placed at Sheppard Pratt including required group and individual supervision.
- Assure completion of student evaluations and other paperwork required by the OT Schools.
- Assist students to complete assessments, design and implement groups and individual treatment plans, including interventions and ideas which offer specific rehab to Sheppard Pratt clients via group and individual treatment sessions.
- Assure accountability for OT student documentation of billable services, service tickets, and documentation in the medical record.
- Ensure coordinated services to Sheppard Pratt programs in the application of principles of OT as is appropriate.
- Provide consultation to Sheppard Pratt programs in the application of the OT as is appropriate.
- As time allows, provide specialized OT assessment of clients to assist staff in understanding client functional skill levels and appropriateness for placement in Sheppard Pratt.
- Assist with special projects at Sheppard Pratt as needed during times when student census is low.
- Assist in development and leadership of groups with clients in day program as time allows when student census is low.
- Consult with program leadership and identified team members to collaborate on evidence-based programs that address client needs, work towards goal achievement as well as to coordinate services.
- Participate as a trainer in training for Sheppard Pratt staff as is appropriate.
- Initiate communication with contact regarding concerns, ideas, input, suggestions or problems.
Requires:
- Work requires knowledge of current theories of contributing factors in and effects of mental illness and knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation concepts. Possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
- Work requires current certification with the National Board for Occupation Therapy, License to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Maryland.
- A minimum of one year of work-related job experience including exposure to supervising and providing clinical education to OT students.
- Experience in collaborating with colleges and universities to promote student internships within Sheppard Pratt’s Rehabilitation and Recovery service line.
- Must possess valid driver's license. Must have a current driving record with 3 or fewer points.
