Assistant Director of Youth Services for Cornerstone Unit

Annual Salary: $45,000.00 to $48,000.00 commensurate with education and experience

Job Description:
  • Position will assist the Director of Youth Services with hiring, providing support and direct supervision of the Program Directors
  • Typical program hours/work schedule is from Monday to Friday 1pm-10pm and alternating Saturdays from 9am-5pm
  • Typical Summer program hours are from 8am-11pm and alternating weekends
  • S/he will regularly observe and assess programs at the site(s), collaborate with NYCHA, and will be in charge of continuous communication between NYCHA and DYCD.
  • The Assistant Director of Youth Services will ensure that Program Directors prepare and submit all required reports and documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • S/he will oversee staff training and assessments and will work with the Controller to monitor all budgets.
  • Work closely with Directors, partners, DYCD, NYCHA

Responsibilities:
General:
  • Oversee all aspects of 4 DYCD Cornerstones programs at MMCC and conduct site visits
  • Serve as a liaison between the community stakeholders and Cornerstone program
  • Establish program goals and outcome measures to determine the success of each site program
  • Report program statistics and information as mandated by agency and funders
  • Maintain and expand on community partnerships to enhance program development
  • Create an atmosphere for effective communication
  • Work closely with the Director of Youth Services and Directors to create and implement action plans as needed to ensure programs are meeting both funder and agency set goals
  • Establish program goals and outcome measures to determine the success of each program component
  • Provide monthly reports and statistics to maintain ADA requirements
  • Understand and ensure all DOH requirements at sites

Qualifications:
  • It is essential that the successful candidate have a very strong background in youth development and management of youth development professionals
  • The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree is preferred
  • The ideal candidate must have excellent management, administrative and communication skills
  • The ideal candidate must have a strong background in program development and strategic planning
  • The ideal candidate must be committed to outcomes driven performance and have an understanding of designing programs toward that end
  • Knowledge of DYCD and DOH is mandatory. NYCHA knowledge is a plus
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle required in order to travel between job sites

Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience in the field of youth development with progressive responsibilities
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience within the field
  • History of program development and strategic planning responsibilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
  • Enthusiasm, creativity and initiative
  • Data driven, results orientated, able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
