Title: Assistant Service Manager
Location: Shorewood, IL
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility is to support the Service Department Operations; specifically enhancing the efficiencies of the department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls and achievement of objectives. Ensures that the daily inventory of available technician time is consistently sold to service customers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Monitors the dispatching of jobs to the technicians and ensures maximum efficiencies are gained by the technical staff.
  • Assists in ensuring that all customers are greeted promptly, given fair estimates and proper customer authorization signatures are captured.
  • Ensures accurate and timely communication is happening internally within Service Department and externally with customers through the Service Advisor Team utilizing tools in place within the department.
  • Supports the lead technicians and assists the Service Manager with the discipline of any deficient technicians.
  • Oversees daily shift hand-off for the evening shift Foreman ensuring the smooth transition of jobs between shifts.
  • Ensures shop assignments are focused around 24-hour throughput goals
  • Oversees Quality Control program to ensure high quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed repairs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Work with location Warranty Manager ensuring all warranty processes are being followed, all warranty coverages are confirmed, and all warranty parts are properly turned into the Parts Department.
  • Assist the Service Manager with the completion of payroll functions and overtime approval.
  • Monitors technicians’ daily productivity reports
  • Responsible to monitor and control the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems and surveys.
  • Monitors, develops, and maintains customer centric environment, driving positive customer reviews (Medallia, social media, etc.)
  • Attends Service Manager Meetings as requested and participates in department meetings locally.
  • Ensures work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Assists in the collection of past due customer accounts.
  • Acts as Service Manager during location Service Manager’s absence.
