The Nebraska Water Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking applications for an Associate Director. This is a .20 FTE, 12-month (calendar year) appointment that will be 100% administrative. This position is expected to be complimentary to a .80 FTE appointment for a faculty member already employed by the University of Nebraska system.

This position will be located in the Nebraska Water Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Associate Director will assist the director in the administration of the Center as well as take a leadership role in coordinating multi-disciplinary grant proposals to Federal/State agencies and private/non-profit donors. The incumbent will work directly with faculty and staff to form teams of experts with complementary expertise in developing large research and extension proposals to address some of the critical water problems of the state.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in field relevant to the Nebraska Water Center.
  • Current UNL faculty appointment of Associate Professor or higher in a discipline that involves water resources management.
  • Relevant research and publications in water areas related to Nebraska’s current water issues.
  • Experience working with large proposals/projects with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience leading university-level efforts in large proposals such as the Sustainable Agricultural Systems of USDA-NIFA and NSF EPSCOR Track II programs.
  • Willingness to work with stakeholders in Nebraska.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or being a significant contributor in large multi-disciplinary, multi-university proposals to federal agencies such as USDA and NSF.
