Job purpose
Ensight has a growing automation group within our equipment division to support our customers biggest challenges of labor shortages. The Automation Engineer is a critical stakeholder, working directly with the Customer, Sales, Purchasing, and Operations, in designing equipment that solves complex challenges for our customers manufacturing needs. This is a pivotal role in our equipment design process. A priority will be to research, analyze, and design innovative opportunities to automate food processing and packaging tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
- Mechanical Design capability and working knowledge in Autodesk Inventor
- Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), customer drawings, manufacturing drawings, and other related engineering documents
- Create proprietary automation solutions
- Design mechanical solutions for a range of simple through complex tasks
- Work with limited resources to develop and test prototype designs to test initial concepts and designs.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable, and cost efficient
- Perform calculations required for equipment verification and component / system sizing including pneumatics, motors, robots, and other required components
- Support Manufacturing and Quality based resources in their work to fabricate, assemble and qualify Engineering / Design deliverables in support of customer driven requirements
- Work collaboratively within project teams consisting of clients, electrical engineers, design engineers, control system programmers, and information system programmers to deliver solutions
- Perform FEA analysis to ensure system structures and framing meet required specifications of strength and rigidity
- May be asked to perform other duties as needed

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Machinery, system, or mechanical design experience
- Autodesk Inventor and Nastran or other 3D engineering modeling software
- Read and Create 3D modeling and 2D fabrication drawing

Preferred Qualifications*

Education*
- 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design
Specialized Knowledge and Experience
- Experience designing with stainless steel and sheet metal
- 3 years of experience utilizing FEA simulation tools
- Utilization of Autodesk Inventor design suite
- Hands on machinery troubleshooting or assembly
- Research and Development project experience

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
