JOB SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, operate, monitor, and maintain automated welding systems and equipment through electro-mechanical hardware/software and observation. Provides timely communication with Management, Maintenance and external contractors on any irregular functions or systems issues.

DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES: Team leadership, training, problem solving, assigning, directing and checking work; addressing minor issues and communicating information to Supervisors and Management.

Specifically:

1. Subject Matter Expert for automated welding system and controls programming for automated welding equipment.

2. Competent in programming PLC, HMI and Control Software specifically Yaskawa/Motoman equipment.

3. Influence and support the design and implementation of factory automation equipment and related jigs & fixtures; uses tools, templates, and fixtures to align, fit, and weld components.

4. Coordinate resources to quickly resolve equipment downtime and work with weld leads to resolve issues; performs preventive and remedial maintenance on automated welding equipment; maintains service records for automated welding equipment.

5. Responsible for the final in-depth quality inspection of related welded assemblies, including resolution of all quality issues prior to delivery to Paint Dept.

6. Assists Supervisors and Manager with identifying continuous improvements related to production flow, organization and operational efficiencies.

7. Lead by example approach to general safety procedures, workplace ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).

8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

9. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE and SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1. Associate degree in Electrical/Industrial/Automation Engineering or related technical disciplines with a control’s emphasis; Bachelor’s degree a plus; or equivalent experience.

2. Experience with and knowledge of robotic systems, systems integration, welding principles and equipment maintenance, with thorough understanding of use of diagnostic and remedial tools.

3. OSHA 10 training preferred.

4. Must be able to read and understand written documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and assembly drawings.

5. Mechanical aptitude, with ability to absorb technical and mechanical information quickly, including basic understanding of computer programming.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

7. Leadership quality communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills required.

8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

9. Proficient with MS Office or related software.

10. Forklift certified or ability to be forklift certified required.

11. Ability to operate overhead lifting devices required.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Team member must: be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary, to perform assembly; be able to lift 50 lbs.; wear proper PPE while on production floor. While performing duties of this job, team member frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Constant care is required in operating equipment or performing duties to prevent injury.
