Position Summary:
At Playland, the Beach & Aquatic Operations Manager is a leader within our creative organization and is responsible for the planning and execution, daily management and oversight, safety and training, and environmental services of the beach, pool, and surrounding area. The position works closely with all departments to accomplish company goals and objectives. Perform related administrative tasks and professional duties as required by ensuring alignment with Playland Park’s policies, procedures, and guest experience expectations. As an inspirational leader, you will cultivate, train, and lead a diverse team of leads and seasonal team members to achieve our core business mission of creating shared experiences and remarkable stories for all who visit Playland.
Essential Position Functions
- Directs and manages all aspects of the daily operations of the Beach & Pool. This includes but not exclusive of; access, first aid & safety, equipment, team training, team scheduling, special programming/events, guest experience, environmental services, and maintenance coordination.
- Implements policy and training for lifeguards, water attendants, and all operational team members
- Cultivates a leadership team among seasonal team to support the role and to provide supervision for seasonal team members
- Manages many aspects of the daily operations of the park property consisting of the surrounding boardwalk, general grounds maintenance, neighborhood relations, and environmental service needs
- Participates in the recruitment process of team members
- Accountable for budgeting and budget P&L for beach and aquatic operations
- Works with other departments to ensure common goals are understood and achieved
- Works collaboratively with Maintenance leadership to ensure equipment and facilities are maintained for safety and to deliver the desired guest experience
- Creates standards, procedures, and accountability metrics for each department with regard to cleanliness, daily procedures, training and safety. This includes development, implementation, and Standard Operating Procedures
- Reviews and analyzes data provided by the park's various operational reports; uses this data to provide guidance for operations management. Seeks and provides opportunities for effective training and professional development for key staff members
- Responsible for monitoring industry and local trends and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies
- Serves on committees as requested for the planning and executing of guest special events and team member events throughout the year or as requested
- Develops and maintains respectful, professional relationships with applicable governmental regulatory agency personnel
- Evaluate department best practices on an ongoing basis and make changes to improve service as needed
- Other duties as may be assigned
Requirements / Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in Park Operations and/or Attractions Management and Guest Services required, with 5 or more years in a senior leadership position
- CPO certifications or willingness to obtain. Working knowledge of ASTM, ADA, and OSHA standards helpful.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills
- Ability to multitask and consistently lead and direct team member’s work
- Ability to learn, adapt to new situations and train and develop team members and direct reports
- Possesses knowledge of good documentation skills
- Ability to learn and use software for related operational functions
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business communications, manuals, and federal, state and local regulations
- Ability to write general business correspondence, and communicate with vendors, and co-workers
- Exceptional management skills with a proven track record in mentoring/leading a successful team
- Open availability during seasonal operating calendar

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
