Before and After School (Y BASE) Site Supervisor

The Site Supervisor role is a full-time entry level leadership position that oversees a small team of staff during the school year and provides leadership to summer camp at the YMCA in the summers. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Y BASE & Camp Director, and in accordance with the Association policies set forth by the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, the Y BASE Site Supervisor will be responsible for the guidance and direction of the Y BASE Before and After School Engagement Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To assist the Camp & Y BASE Director in the development of the overall Y BASE program.
- Ensure that care of participants is a key priority through direct supervision site staff.
- Supervision and training of Site Specific Y BASE Staff.
- Manage all materials and supplies needed for planned activities and maintain quality of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and actively participate in the daily activities of a group of children in order to engage students and monitor safety.
- Serve as a role model to staff and participants and act as the on-site supervisor of the school age and 4K Wrap Care programs where applicable.
- Develop positive relationships will the staff, families, and children while providing motivational support and guidance, including parent conferences and handling complaints in a courteous, patient manner using problem solving techniques.
- Build a professional collaboration with local school district administration and staff to develop programming that aligns with district values, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain participant records and other documentation in accordance with department requirements.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
- Follow the YMCA of Greater Waukesha Countys emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children, including but not limited to, communicating with supervisor regarding any emergency concerns or situations.
- Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community.
- Follow all relevant regulations from the Department of Children and Families, Young Star, or other regulatory agencies.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Other duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have and have 320 hours of experience in approved education setting.
- Must meet all Child Care Licensing requirement including one of the following: Two DCF-approved courses in early childhood education (credit or non-credit); a Wisconsin Preschool or Infant-Toddler Credential; 48 credits from an institution of higher education with at least 3 credits in early childhood education; an Associate degree or higher in early childhood education; a Child Development Association credential; or otherwise qualified as a Teacher through The Wisconsin Child Care Registry.
- Must be able willing to obtain CPR, Firs Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, and Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification.
- Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Must also be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
