SummaryA BRS Associate III is responsible for all BRS Associate I and II tasks. Additionally, a BRS Associate
III will work with project management to manage the problems box and resolve all discrepancies
but will be focused towards the higher complexity studies. A BRS Associate III will fulfill all
destruction requests as delegated by the shipping lead and/or management. BRS Associate III are
considered the highest-ranking employees and will work with other BRS Associates to resolve
issues, before escalating to management. BRS Associate III may be asked to represent BRS on
project teams or in trainings. All BRS employees are responsible for workspace sanitation, writing
incident forms, and working towards corporate goals (4DX, other corporate initiatives).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Specimen storage at all temperatures, including LN2.
- Sample check-in/chain-of-custody management
- Shipping specimens to labs and sponsors, including specialty labs, and ordering necessary
- Pulling and Qcing specimens for shipments
- Preparing inventory reports
- Biorepository housekeeping tasks such as freezer scraping, alarm testing, maintenance of
- 4DX projects
- Non-conformance reporting and participation in non-conformance/CAPA investigations.
- Attend protocol trainings/meetings and subsequent staff training
- Resolving sample discrepancies found by other BRS Associates
- Problems box management and reconciliation, block/slide reconciliation, and other sample
- Completing destruction requests
- Client (internal and external) communications
- Other duties as required by management
High School Diploma (or GED) required. Training and education in clinical laboratory sciences is
preferred and working in a complex office operation is desirable.
Language Ability
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical
situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where
only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual needs knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
Database software; and Internet software.
Certificates and Licenses
Medical Laboratory Technician certification preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is
frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach
with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Exposure to dry
ice and cold. Must handle biological samples.
