Job Summary:

In the BMET III role, candidate must resolve challenges with urgency, high energy, and passion. He/she must be a strong leader with a proven record of accomplishment in troubleshooting and successful service responses. Must be hard worker, adhering to equipment manufacturer technical criteria and guidelines. BMET III technician must participate in Biomedical Engineering emergency on-call program and reports directly to Biomedical Engineering Service Manager.

  • Effectively collaborates within team to resolving suspected equipment failed conditions and take necessary action to correct them
  • Demonstrate ability to work without supervision independently
  • BMET III will assist in day-to-day call management activities as well as lead special projects assigned by department manager
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn quickly new technologies with speed & comprehension
  • Conducts planned maintenance tasks appropriate to the level of job competence using appropriate test equipment & quality measurements
  • Demonstrate can follow validated manufacture PM guidelines and departmental risk management system
  • Maintain grounded with a high positive attitude in fast pace environment
  • Collaborate ideas with other service team members to determine most effective service strategy
  • Participate in encouraging consistent communication and constant follow-up
  • Assists Biomedical Manager in assignment of scheduled and unscheduled service requests
  • Assists Biomedical Manager address Environment of Care round, medical equipment recalls, Performance Initiatives (PI), and Safety meetings/device alerts from manufactures and/or F.D.A.
  • Participates in On Call duties after normal working hours as assigned. Must respond to a call within 15 minutes by telephone, and reports to Hamilton facility within a maximum of one hour if required to be on site under normal circumstances
  • Able to provide technical instruction to end users over the phone providing for continued patient care avoiding potential equipment downtime

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum AAS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent work/military experience in Biomedical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of hands on experience. Previous experience inside hospital environment a plus
  • Knowledge of IT&S network and/or experience in cyber security are an advantage
  • Must be comfortable with the functions of computers both networked and stand alone as well as electrical safety, power distribution circuitry, and disassembly of electronic and/or mechanical environments
  • Holds technical service certification from at least one medical device manufacturer
  • Imaging, Anesthesia, Respiratory, Operating Room, and/or Lab service training or hands-on experience a plus
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred
