Seattle Tennis & Education Foundation (STEF) is a 501(c)(3) that provides tennis, mentoring and life skills to underserved youth in Seattle living in the low-income housing in Magnuson Park.
STEF is seeking new board members who can dedicate themselves to our mission of inspiring under-resourced kids to be active in mind and body so they gain the confidence and skills to achieve their dreams.
STEF is partially-funded by the United States Tennis Association Foundation to carry on tennis legend Arthur Ashe’s goal of building character and leadership skills in children with tennis and educational enrichment. Our board members are active advocates and ambassadors who identify and secure the financial resources and partnerships necessary for STEF to achieve our goals and mission.
As an active board member, you will work with the STEF Board of Directors to support the Executive Director to further our outreach, impact and fundraising. Ideal candidates will have strong community and business relationships; a finance or accounting background is helpful. A love of tennis is welcome but not required. Board members meet virtually once a month and serve a two-year term with a minimum annual financial commitment.
Currently, we provide educational enrichment to 16 elementary-age kids in Magnuson Park and teach tennis skills at Tennis Center Sand Point. We are also serving a new cohort of 12 elementary-age kids at Sand Point Elementary throughout the school year.
