Reports to: Performing Arts and Events Manager
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Summary
As the first point of contact for many of Vashon Center for the Arts’ patrons, the Box Office Support position is responsible for greeting and assisting patrons in person, by phone and online. Responsibilities include completing ticket sales, performing daily clerical tasks and providing general administrative support.
Front Desk, Event and Gallery Responsibilities
- Provide first-class customer service to all patrons, performers, artists and volunteers
- Process ticket purchases by phone, online and in person
- Process special ticket requests (complimentary tickets for sponsors and artists, refunds, gift certificates and series punch cards)
- Capture full and accurate contact information from new patrons
- Assist with set-up and break-down of events held at various locations in the Kay White Hall
- Support all box office functions during performances and events (patron engagement, ticket sales, concessions during performances/events)
- Assist with volunteer training and supervision
- Support the efforts of the Gallery Director (gallery and gift shop sales)
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to multi-task with a professional demeanor in an often fast-paced public environment
- Ability to follow directions, be detail oriented and complete responsibilities on time
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and independent with a strong work ethic
- Prior customer service experience
- Proficiency using Windows/Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible and adjust to situations as they occur
- Willingness to work flexible hours (day/evening/weekend)
Preferred Requirements
- Prior receptionist or box office experience
- Experience with ticketing software and event database(s)
- Experience in the non-profit or arts sector

Schedule and Compensation
Work schedule will follow the VCA performance/event calendar which includes evenings and weekends and is subject to change. Weekly hours may fluctuate from 15 to 20 hours as needed (not to exceed 20 hours.)
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The starting hourly rate is $18.00.
