Brand Manager - Innovation

Position Summary:
The Brand Manager – Innovation leads the product lifecycle management for assigned brands/segments/need-states, contributing to the conceptualization, development, commercialization and evaluation for new products and improvements to existing ones. You will collaborate cross functional to effectively manage a range of responsibilities including assortment choices, product positioning and innovation pipeline, with the goal of optimizing revenue, margin and working capital deployment.
Responsibilities:
Your primary activities will include but are not limited to:
- Translates business/brand strategy into innovation and product strategy through the management of pricing, margin, product positioning, on-pack promotions and assortment, and the development and execution of a new product pipeline.
- Help develop Brand and Product Need-State strategy, manages the lifecycle of products according to strategy and to optimize volume and margin
- Manage product and packaging innovations through gate development process, including opportunity identification, concept development, product and packaging creation, feasibility validation, financial viability, commercial validation and launch planning.
- Maintains a consumer-first focus and understands retailer needs while developing and executing innovation and product management plans.
- Be the expert on assigned brand/need states/categories, their performance, the competition and the trends impacting them.
- Provides Marketing and Sales with insights on product key differentiators and messages in order to maximize distribution and sales.
- Build strong, collaborative partnerships with Sales, Marketing, Consumer Insights, R&D and Operations for seamless connection from ideation to launch.
- Monitors product performance including sales data, consumer and customer feedback, COGS, margin and sales, and recommends plans to optimize.
- Identifies gaps in the portfolio and recommend plans to fill these gaps.
- Identifies opportunities to improve performance of focus SKU’s (e.g. improved claims, better packaging, etc.).
- Helps determine consumers' needs and desires by identifying research opportunities; works with Insights team to request research.
- Develop a deep understanding of innovation and product development process and lead its implementation and optimization.
- Analyze and interpret data & research results to communicate findings and recommendations to cross-functional team members and executive leadership
- Provides information for management by preparing analyses, reports, and presentations.
You'll need the following (minimum qualifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience in CPG brand management, product management, or innovation roles
- Strong analytical and project management skills, data-driven decision making
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills
- Demonstrated consumer-first mindset, while also being able to understand other stakeholders’ perspectives
- Ability to define key project milestones, where initial pathways can be unclear or undefined, and identify potential issues early.
- Agile. An ability to both think at a high level, as well as roll up their sleeves to execute work
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with Nielsen/IRI a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication
