The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Building Maintenance Worker/Custodian in the Hampton Roads Area Command Kroc Center.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, oversees the activities of custodial staff.Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:
No formal education required;
Two years’ experience supervising general housekeeping duties,
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

License/Certification:
None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Mental and Physical Abilities
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read and communicate the English language.
Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
