The company services “Parade” label along with most major US brand grocery products to over 3,000 independently owned supermarkets throughout the metropolitan NY area and surrounding states. It was incorporated over 80 years ago and has grown and expanded to provide our retail partners with a diverse variety of over 12,000 grocery and dairy items. DESCRIPTION: * The Buyer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, purchasing and pricing grocery and/or dairy products for specific categories. Duties include negotiating and coordinating with vendors/brokers and the sales team to develop programs, increase sales and ensure inventory is properly maintained to service our customers.
FUNCTIONS:

• Buy product competitively and in a timely manner to maintain service and proper inventories levels.
• Utilize and develop merchandising plans to sell product
• Increasing product, category & market knowledge.
• Recognize, respond to and negotiate for profitable opportunities to benefit both the customer and the company.
• Communicate, problem solve, prioritize situations and cooperate with all departments and vendors/brokers to efficiently run operations and service the customer.

RESPONSIBILITY:

• Work on various departmental projects when required
• Keep organized records and information

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree preferred
• 5 years business experience preferably in food industry
• Strong negotiating skills
• Understanding of MS Excel and MS Word
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Ability to work with a team
• Able to thrive in a high-stress and fast-paced environment
