Excellent Structural Interventional Cardiologist Opportunity

The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute provides nationally acclaimed cardiovascular care in south central Pennsylvania. Our high-volume, reputable, well-supported organization is seeking a structural interventional cardiologist to join our elite program.

About the UPMC Central PA Heart and Vascular Institute:

We are a well-established, collegial, and dedicated group of 60+ cardiologists, including 40+ non-invasive specialists in a multi-disciplinary setting, and 15 office sites. Our institute is physician-centric and has shared governance.

• We have high-volume, well-established interventional program involved in all aspects of coronary, structural heart, and peripheral vascular care.
• We host a comprehensive, fully accredited noninvasive department which includes echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular imaging, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and cardiac PET.
• We have active clinical research program with more than 80 cutting-edge national and international clinical trials ongoing, with the majority in the structural heart space.
• We have an ACGME approved general cardiology fellowship program started July 2022.
• We have an extensive internal referral base.

About the Position/Desired Applicant:

• One to five years of dedicated MD/DO structural interventional training
• Applicant must have academic credentials with demonstrated record of taking research to publication (10-plus peer-reviewed manuscripts in the field of structural heart)
• Structural heart focus with dedication to the home Valve Clinic, as well as several structural heart “outreach” offices (note: no general cardiology office, rounding, or call)
• Willingness to perform 150+ TAVRs per year as primary operator, with a focus on homogenous technique and procedural enhancement; vast practice in TMVr/R, TTVr/R, LAAO, ASD/PFO, BMV, a plethora of clinical trials (FIM, EFS, IDE, PMA), and out-of-the-box structural work, as desired
• Ability to construct and deliver content-ladened lectures for outside observers and UPMC system-wide programs
• Coronary interventional experience is a must — you will take STEMI call (note: no interventional rounding)
• PERT experience (and/or desire to be a part of PERT)
• Help to develop a Structural Heart Fellowship Program as the Program Director
• Start date ASAP with Pennsylvania license and hospital credentialing complete
