Job description
To assist in the serving details for banquets, receptions, and other social functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervises catering staff, ensuring that catering servers are ready to serve meals when prepared.
  • Assists in initial and on-going training of catering staff.
  • Actively participates in room set up and service.
  • Relieves catering captain and operates the service when required.
  • Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees (including other departments).
  • Enforce all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
  • Supervise organization of equipment for an event as well as cleaning, maintaining, and looking after equipment during and after functions.
  • Make sure all storerooms are clean, organized and secured.
  • Follow all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure and energy efficient.
  • Follows all rules and regulations which apply to the food and beverage operations and to ASM GLOBAL Food and Beverage Division.
  • Supervise and assist in the proper handling and cleaning of all equipment, china, glass and silver.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be of legal age limit with respect to serving alcoholic beverages
  • One to two years formal experience as a catering server for a conference center banquet facility, arena, full service hotel or restaurant operation preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Food handler certificate required from Health Department.
  • Liquor License required through the Oklahoma ABLE Commission.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in customer relations, communications, and problem solving
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
  • Work independently, exercising good judgment and initiative
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others while working
  • Ability to work flexible hours including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, stooping, and walking. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work inside or outside environments
Computer Skills
  • Operate a personal computer using Windows, Office and other standard office equipment.
