CCV Faculty Assistant - Winooski and Online Temporary Per Semester Basis
Job description
We are looking for a Faculty Assistant to provides support for administrative tasks for 1-3 courses this summer and fall at CCV. The faculty assistant will work 3 hours per week per course for the15-week semester, plus two weeks before the start of the semester and 1 week after the end of semester.
Specific duties can vary depending on the needs of the individual instructor but can include any of the following tasks:
- Pre-semester preparation (including copying) of handouts, syllabi, course description, & Canvas course construction.
- Copying of handouts in advance as requested.
- Prompt recording of weekly class attendance in WEB SERVICES (within 24 hours of class session).
- Help with posting on-going grades, mid-semester and final narrative evaluations.
- Light grading of quantitative quizzes and tests (not essays or academic papers or reports).
- Hartness Library Research on behalf of the faculty member for articles, films or streaming video.
- Other related duties as needed.
If attendance during the actual class is needed the duties may include:
- Taking attendance;
- Running AV equipment as needed for films, PowerPoints, etc.;
- Distribution of materials to students & collection of student work;
- Running errands in the building for faculty member: for example, fetching any materials needed (flipcharts, etc.);
- Other related duties as needed.
OTHER INFORMATION
- This position requires that the Assistant maintain the Confidentiality of all student information as protected under FERPA regulations. Completion of the brief FERPA online tutorial (and other employee required tutorials) is a condition of hiring.
- Unless otherwise negotiated and approved by Supervisor (depending on task), work is primarily done on CCV premises.
- Specific days/times hours worked are flexible and are negotiated between the assistant and faculty member.
The pay ranges from $13.75 to $20 an hour, based on education.
Knowledge of basic ICT is required, and CCV will provide training to navigate the Canvas platform.
