Certified Medical Assistant for Specialty Clinic/Occupational Medicine
Multi-Specialty clinic seeks a full time Certified Medical Assistant for Occupational Medicine provider.
The MA contributes to the success of our practice by working closely with patients, our providers, and staff to ensure the appropriate documentation of vital signs, patient history, medication(s), and other intake information in the EHR. Assists with procedures, sterile tray setup and room turnover. Stocks and cleans exam rooms as needed to ensure efficient delivery of appropriate care. Answers incoming phone calls and schedules appointments as needed. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff and our office and the medical community.
Job Specifications:
- High School Diploma required
- College/Technical courses required
- MA certification required
- At least 1 year experience in health care setting
- Experience taking vitals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity in working with MicroMD (or other EHR systems) highly desirable
- Fundamental knowledge of medical terminology, ICD, CPT and HCPCS
- Professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Capable of working independently as well as alongside colleagues
- Occasional evenings or weekends may be required
- Medical Terminology: 1 year (Preferred)
- Spanish Speaking Preferred
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare patient and their electronic record for providers
- Take and document patient vitals
- Enter patient’s medical, family, and social history into EHR
- Record all medications, including frequency, dose, and severity
- Document allergies and severity
- Document flu and/or pneumonia immunization status
- Log quality assurance and compliance measures
- Setup, cleanup and assist with procedures, including laceration repairs, burns, wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal, etc.
- Operate C-arm/Fluoro and Ultrasound
- IM injections
- Drug Screen Collection (with certification, can train)
- Breath Alcohol Technician (with certification, can train)
- Rx authorizations as needed
- Clean and stock exam rooms as needed and order inventory
- Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting/communicating actions, irregularities, and needs of patient directly to provider
- Maintains patient privacy by keeping patient records/information confidential
