SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for ensuring that company products meet customers’ machining standards and specifications. Generally is capable of working with advanced prints, geometrics, tolerancing, high skill level and setup experience; also capable of running all machines with very little or no direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position is divided into the following areas of functional responsibility with percentages assigned indicating the amount of time spent on each activity, which could include the following:
70% Directly conducts machining of company vacuum products (primarily vacuum chambers).
20% Working with other departments to resolve manufacturing problems; plus the completion of documentation (e g, job-routers, etc).
10% Assist other departments in achieving company manufacturing goals.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon department necessity.
- Will work with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Control, etc in order to determine proper sequencing, procedures and priorities.
- Will work for other departments when necessary.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Must possess the following knowledge, skill and ability and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, or by using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Able to read, understand and follow job-routing instructions accurately.- Able to test, and verify conformance to standards, using specific testing equipment, and/or by visual examination.
- Able to work in a fast paced shop, with quickly changing work priorities, and with minimal interaction to complete assignments on time. Overtime as required.
- Knows how to operate machining equipment in a safe manner.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Training: Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school (plus some post high school technical training) or that would provide the required welding knowledge, skills and ability of this job.
Experience: Minimum 60 months of general machining experience, plus 24-months specific machining of stainless steel, vacuum chambers or components (or equivalent).
Safety: 100% machining/shop floor environment; routine lifting to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance. Required to wear protective equipment, e g, eye and hearing protection.
