The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), a member of the Executive Leadership Team and reporting directly to the President & CEO, has full accountability for all aspects of the direct delivery of medical care by the company, as well as direct oversight of the individual clinical leaders of Valor’s VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) and non-CBOC lines of business. This position is responsible for clinical quality, medical efficiency, clinical practice guidelines, and medical compliance for the company. The Chief Medical Officer must develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive policies, procedures, and training programs to drive achievement of best-in-class clinical outcomes, patient experience, and stakeholder customer service, all of which impact the clinical, financial, and service goals of the business.
The corporate office is in Dallas, but this can be a remote-based position with access to a major airport.
- Companywide leadership responsibility for all clinical outcomes, metrics, and processes in adult primary care medicine, to include monthly executive presentations and updates. Develops and executes clinical outcomes-driven strategic initiatives
- Develops and maintains an Excellence in Clinical Outcomes plan to achieve and maintain excellence in clinical outcomes , chronic disease management/HEDIS measures, and Population Health. that defines the components of the program including measurables, milestones, etc.
- Functions as the clinical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the Business Development team supporting new business development activities, including expert guidance on the medical guidelines and outcome expectations, in the company’s new business acquisition efforts.
- Indirectly oversees the clinical quality delivery/outcomes in other lines of business (e.g., Behavioral Health, Occupational Health, etc.).
- Functions as the primary medical authority and mentor for company primary care medical providers.
- No direct P&L responsibility for this role, the leader is expected to have business acumen pertinent to the healthcare field and working knowledge of the company’s financial performance, including those clinical areas where direction may be sought to drive revenue growth and/or cost control.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) consultant, on request, for Primary Care Physician and Advance Practice Provider candidates including, on request, resume/CV review and/or candidate interview.
- Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with our key government agency clinical partners, to include periodic updates and reporting to those partners.
Requirements:
- 10+ years healthcare experience required in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Chronic Disease Management, or Prevention and at least 5 years’ management experience; government healthcare environment preferred
- Experience with and commitment to data analytics and interpretation, population health and effective reporting formats that lead to data-driven decision making
- Ability to travel 50-70% of the time
- Executive presence and the ability to be viewed as a key strategic leader in the organization
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint and others
- Ability to think strategically, at both clinical and operational levels; must be able to evaluate and implement strategic plans
- Outstanding leadership skills – both with subordinates and peers
- Company first mindset with energetic, optimistic, positive, and collaborative problem-solving demeanor and demonstrated sense of ownership/accountability
