Summary:
Serves as active part of a multidisciplinary team that provides outpatient services in a structured
therapeutic environment for children and adolescents who present with a wide range of behavioral
health needs. Engages parents, family members and other pertinent adults to support the child
through the therapeutic process. Treatment is aimed at assisting individuals and families by helping
them develop the skills necessary to improve their quality of life.
Essential Responsibilities and Target Outcomes:
- Assesses, diagnoses and recommends appropriate treatment for child and family and assists
- Completes assessment tool, integrates pertinent information to establish diagnosis, and
- Develops achievable goals with client and family; with measurable and behavioral objectives
identified timeframes and as necessary.
- Performs individual, family and group treatment utilizing evidence based practices to facilitate
- Collaborates and coordinates with external agencies such as schools, pediatricians, DCF, juvenile
- Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately, communicating clearly with professionals
- Provides referrals and linkage to community and internal resources as necessary to address
- Secures reimbursement by obtaining authorizations, providing accurate documentation and the
- Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external
- Performs others related duties as assigned.
Principal Customers:
Clients referred by DCF, Parents, Schools, Court System, Pediatricians, other programs within CMHA
and other social service agencies.

Critical Work Relationships:
Directors, coordinators, program clinicians, case managers and psychiatrists, other programs within
CMHA, other Social Service Agencies as appropriate.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Master’s degree in behavioral health (psychology, social work, counseling,
marriage and family therapy, and/or alcohol and drug counseling)
Credentials and
Licenses:
- License eligible (MFTA, LPCA, LMSW) required.
- Must be eligible for full licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LPC)
- Certified in first aid and CPR
- Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish/English)
Experience: • Demonstrates desire to work with children, adolescents, families and
adults with moderate to severe behavioral health issues.
- Successful experience in the provision of mental health services with
two years.
- Demonstrates beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft
ability or willingness to learn how to use an Electronic Medical Record
(EMR) system which includes appointment scheduling, authorization
tracking, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge
summaries.
