The CCA YMCA Child Watch Program is a program offered to our members for children ages 2 to 10 years. This program provides a service to our Members that they can utilize while they workout or take a class within the facility. The Child Watch staff provide a secure and happy environment for the children and will be trained in-house for CPR/First Aid.

Hours for the position will be Monday through Thursday 9am to 12pm, Friday 8am to 11am, and may include a rotating Saturday 8am to 12pm.

Anticipated start date of September 6th

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the child watch program. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interacts with children within the established guidelines.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervises the children, designated rooms, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly implement emergency procedures to ensure safety of the children.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, school staff, and Administration. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
  • Assists in maintaining the program site and equipment ensuring a clean, orderly, compliant, safe and positive environment for the students and parents.
  • Enforce the Associations Policies and Procedures regarding arrivals, departures, absences, incident/accident reports, E-Child Care swipes, fee collection, monthly program calendar, and daily schedule as applicable.
  • Attends and actively participates in CCA YMCA program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. A minimum of 20 hours is required annually.
  • Assist the Child Watch Coordinator with program development as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Meets educational requirement of a minimum of a High School diploma.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED and oxygen certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
    hire date.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate
    program activities.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships
    with people from different backgrounds.

  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
  • Must be able to speak, hear, see, touch, and communicate in emergent situations
