Chastain & Associates, LLC (Chastain) has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer II working with public or private infrastructure projects in our Schaumburg Office. Qualified candidates will work in a collaborative environment with our team and alongside clients from private to municipal, state, and federal jurisdictions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate transportation systems or traffic control devices or lighting systems to determine need for modification or expansion.
• Design or prepare plans for new transportation systems or parts of systems, such as airports, commuter trains, highways, streets, bridges, drainage structures, or roadway lighting.
• Analyze environmental impact statements for transportation projects.
• Plan alteration or modification of existing transportation structures to improve safety or function.
• Review the work of other engineers, write reports and evaluations, and observe construction sites.
• Collaborate with various departments to support project continuity and assist in completion of multiple projects.
• Check construction plans, analyze data, prepare specifications, studies, research, investigations and independently evaluate and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Evaluate specifications and drawings, recommend, and document design modifications and coordinate with the design team.
• Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Checks on all projects to uphold Chastain’s principle of superior service to all our clients.
• Client relationship management and active sourcing for the new business generation.

Job Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or higher in Civil Engineering with a specialization in transportation or transportation related experience.
• Have two + years of relevant experience working in Transportation Engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, ArcGIS or similar programs.
• Strong oral and written communication, presentation skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
