Overview:
Maintains current knowledge of educational and training requirements, as well as, best practices for clinical staff. Ensures that staff training aligns with current policy and practices.
Develops, periodically evaluates and delivers the curriculum used to train new clinical coordinators.
Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates the coursework (didactic, on-line, simulated, etc.) for the clinical training program. Collaborates with department management to ensure all clinical staff demonstrate acceptable levels of competency.
Observes staff “on-site”, at least once per week to educate and assess mastery of job skills and core competencies.
Coordinates orientation and onboarding process of newly hired/transferred staff.
Develops and maintains clinical resource materials.
Assists in the development and design of the clinical preceptor program, for qualified staff, to train and mentor staff.
Assists in the development and implementation of competency evaluation tools that reflects the performance standards of the clinical employee for successful completion of the introductory period and annual assessments.
Assesses educational needs of the organization through performance expectations, regulatory agency standards, industry standards and Process Transformation and Innovation departmental recommendations. Identifies and recommends changes to improve performance standards of staff.
Provides guidance and assists in reviewing the application process for continuing education credits offered by LiveOnNY.
Collaborates with HR to maintain employee training files to ensure consistency and accurate educational documentation.
Performs the duties of administrator on call as scheduled. This entails serving as a resource to team members when they are on-call to assist with donor assessment and evaluation, obtaining authorization from the authorized party, donor management, organ placement, recovery of organs and tissue, etc.
Participates in weekly AOC/ Clinical Management meetings. Reviews feedback on donors and donor process to improve quality of the process as warranted.
Ability to perform all essential duties of a Transplant Coordinator is required. Maybe assigned cases to maintain educational proficiency as needed.

Registered Nurse with MSN in Education or an OPO Transplant Coordinator with a minimum of three years’ experience with CPTC preferred.
Salary Range: $79,081 -$118,622

Clinical Education Specialist Qualifications:

Previous experience in training, education, program development and supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, judgment skills required.
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Periodic, in-state travel is
required.
