The Clinical Informatics (CI) Nurse works with teams and individuals to coordinate and facilitate the design and implementation of Clinical Informatics systems within established time frames and assures that issues related to those systems are addressed and resolved in a timely manner. (Cerner) S/he uses a systematic approach when assessing requests for new systems or enhancements and assists with establishing priorities and projected timelines based on established criteria. S/he is a Registered Nurse with a comprehensive understanding of nursing process and practice standards, patient flow and operational processes and clinical informatics systems. The CI Nurse demonstrates excellent communication, leadership and project management skills and is able to build and maintain positive relationships, conduct and facilitate effective meetings and work with teams and individuals to achieve the desired product/s. S/he looks for opportunities to integrate new systems with existing systems, creates transparency of information and real time monitoring of processes, hard-wire for process integrity and desired outcomes and minimize duplication of work effort for clinicians. S/he delegates, monitors and provides direction and feedback as required to achieve desired results. The CI Nurse ensures development and implementation of effective and affordable methods for providing required education to users incorporating web-based systems, quick reference tools, and mentor supported reinforcement and works with the Health Educator to assure that orientation and ongoing education for informatics systems is provides for new and existing employees. S/he serves as the clinical informatics resource and supports and participates in activities related to informatics such as site visits, internal and external presentations and supports overall goals of the department and organization. The CI Nurse exhibits behaviors that enhance professional performance and reflect the key moral commitment, ethical principles, values and philosophy of MVH.
REQUIRED: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State, Bachelors degree required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in informatics, Meditech experience preferred. Substantial experience working in hospital nursing services required.
 Demonstrated knowledge of organizational systems, operational and clinical care processes, practice standards and regulatory agency requirements. Key Competencies/Skills: Leadership in collaborative style; strong analytical skills; understanding and sensitivity to cost of healthcare and integration of cost and quality; able to manage multiple and complex activities and priorities; preference for competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Capture Pro, and Power Point; strong facilitation and consultation skills; teaching and presentation abilities.
